Lautner Takes Home Two PSUAC Awards

McKeesport, PA. – The Penn State University Athletic Conference released their yearly awards for Softball on Monday and Penn State Greater Allegheny Softball Player Lacie Lautner (Pleasant Hills, PA./Thomas Jefferson) took home two All-Conference Honors. Lautner was named to the PSUAC 2nd Team All-Conference as an infielder and a PSUAC Honorable Mention for her work as a pitcher.

Lautner has had one of the best careers in PSUGA Softball history over her two seasons, but she took her game to another level in her sophomore year. She set new career highs in wins (11), innings pitched (83.2), appearances (15), Home Runs (3), RBI (33), and hits (31) while leading her team to the most wins and conference wins in program history.

For her efforts Lautner received two all-conference awards, one for each side of her game. As a pitcher, she received a PSUAC Honorable Mention award after going 11-3 with a 3.18 ERA over 83.2 innings of work while striking out 80 and walking 11. Lautner broke the all-time win record at PSUGA and the single season win record with her 11 wins this year.

She pitched in some big games for PSUGA this season including notching a career high 13 strikeouts in a 7-3 win over PSU-Fayette on April 12th that helped PSUGA move to 7-1 in conference play through the first eight games. Lautner also helped pitch PSUGA into the playoffs going a perfect 4-0 with a 1.50 Era over the final week of the regular season.

Lautner was named both the PSUAC Pitcher of the Week and the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week once this season and was the only upperclassmen leader taking to that role immediately.

Lautner also helped herself out by shining at the plate where she was named a 2nd Team All-Conference Infielder in the PSUAC. Lautner hit .403 this season with a career high three home runs and 33 RBI while striking out only five times and walking six times. She consistently hit in the number three spot in the batting order and delivered several clutch hits for her team.

Lautner’s biggest performance of the year came against PSU-New Kensington when she went 3-4, hitting all three of her homeruns, and driving in five RBI on the way to leading her team to a 10-6 victory. The three home runs were the most ever hit in a game by Lautner and her only non-hit was when she reached on an error resulting in an RBI.

Lautner had a great career at PSUGA and now moves on to Penn State Main Campus as part of the 2 + 2 program. She finished her PSUGA career with 19 wins, the new all-time record at PSUGA, and just six losses over 165.1 innings pitched.
