Women's Basketball Picks Up First PSUAC Victory On 1-1 Trip

McKeesport, Pa- The Greater Alleghey women's basketball team split two PSUAC contests this past weekend, earning them their first conference victory of the season.  GA suffered a 70-51 loss at the hands of Penn State Brandywine (2-1, 1-0 PSUAC) on Friday evening, before defeating Penn State Schuylkill (0-4, 0-3 PSUAC) 63-37, on Saturday afternoon.

  Sophomore forward Christina Floyd (Philadelphia, PA) led the women in scoring at Brandywine with 13, while grabbing eight rebounds.  Fellow sophomore, guard Taylor Fulton (West Mifflin, PA), also notched double-figures in scoring with 12 points;  she collected seven rebounds and had three assists, as well.

  Four Greater Allegheny women tallied double-digit point totals in the victory at Schuylkill, led by sophomore guard Nakayla Layne's (Pittsburgh, PA) 15 points on 6-11 (55%) shooting.  Sophomore guard Ciera Hussey (Philadelphia, PA) had 13 points and nine rebounds, while Fulton notched a double-double with 14 points and 11 assists. 

  The PSUAC split sets Greater Allegheny's record at 4-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play.  They return to action this evening for a 5 PM game at Westmoreland CC.
