McKeesport, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny women's basketball team earned their first Penn State University Athletic Conference victory 67-53, Saturday afternoon, as Penn State DuBois came to Wunderley Gymnasium.

Freshman forward Kelly Moore (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen) was the first to score for the home team before sophomore guard Tra-Esha Carswell (Homestead, Pa./Steel Valley) made a completed a jumper. Freshman guard Mandi Johnston (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) regained the lead from DuBois within the first four minutes before she laid on a three-pointer to advance GA 11-7 with 13 to play until half.

Senior forward Kimberly Hall and M. Johnston deposited two apiece before freshman guard Tori Johnston (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) aced a trey to move GA 18-10. Senior power forward Christina Floyd (Philadelphia, Pa./Sts. Neumann-Goretti) added four as T. Johnston drained a three, moving Greater Allegheny to 27-15.

M. Johnston and Moore knocked down a jumper apiece as freshman forward Morgan McCallister (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) added the final points before half, Greater Allegheny ahead 32-19.

Carswell, Floyd and M. Johnston all put up buckets within the first six minutes of action for the home team to continue the GA swell, 48-27. T. Johnston added a three-pointer as Carswell put down a jumper to keep the home team moving. Floyd and M. Johnston rode out the scoring drive, as the duo matched one another with seven points marked from each studen-athlete. Greater Allegheny finished the game ahead of PSUAC foe, Penn State DuBois, 67-53.

As a team, Greater Allegheny shot 56.2% (9-of-16) from the free-throw line alongside 35.5% (27-of-76) from the floor. GA out-rebounded DuBois 69-55 while converting 26 points in the paint and 12 points on second chance. 

M. Johnston finished the game with 25 points along with seven rebounds, five assists and two rebounds. The freshman shot 75% (6-for-8) from the free-throw line. Floyd recorded yet another double-double, as the power forward pulled down 21 board while adding 16 points. Carswell put up ten points and eight rebounds while T. Johnston dished out six assists with nine points herself.

Greater Allegheny (3-4, 1-0 PSUAC) will travel to Slippery Rock University, Monday evening, for a match-up scheduled for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
