DuBois, Pa. - Despite a one-point first quarter, the Penn State Greater Allegheny women's basketball team fell to Penn State University Athletic Conference foe, Penn State DuBois, Wednesday night, by a margin of 74-57.

Sophomore guard Mandi Johnston (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) made a jumper and one before sophomore guard Tori Johnston (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) slashed two points herself. Sophomore guard Tra-Esha Carswell (Homestead, Pa./Steel Valley) noted a jump shot as M. Johnston made two from the free-throw line, 9-6 GA. 

T. Johnston dropped a three-pointer as freshman forward Tiajuanna Burke (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) added a jumper, 14-10 with three minutes until the break. Burke surplused with a jumper as M. Johnston added two more from the foul line, ending the first quarter by a slim DuBois advantage, 19-18.

DuBois held Greater Allegheny to just four points through the next ten minutes of play while they inflated their score to an overall 37. Burke noted a jumper as M. Johnston posted a pair of free-throws to get out of the first half, DuBois 37-22.

M. Johnston dropped a quick three-pointer as Burke comprised of the next three points. Freshman forward Andrea Burroughs (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) put down a jumper as Burke and junior guard Jess Manfredi (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Serra Catholic) both added free-throws, GA now behind 51-35. M. Johnston and Burke rode out the third quarter from the foul line, GA trailing 20 points heading into the final ten minutes of action.

Burroughs, Burke and Carswell drained nothing but jumpers through the first eight minutes of the fourth quarter. M. Johnston added two free-throws and a jumper while Carswell closed the game with two completed free-throws, giving Penn State DuBois the 74-57 advantage.

M. Johnston completed 76.5% (13-of-17) of her shots from the free-throw line while noting 20 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals. In her first contest with the Lions, Burke marked her first double-double of the season with 15 points and ten points. Burroughs pulled down ten boards with six points while Carswell came back with eight points and two steals. T. Johnston added seven points with three assists and two steals.

As a team, Greater Allegheny shot 57.6% (19-of-33) from the free-throw line while recording 18 points off turnovers and 11 off the bench.

Greater Allegheny (3-9, 0-3 PSUAC) looks forward to Friday, as both the men and women host a Penn State University Athletic Conference batlle as Penn State York comes to Wunderley Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
