Lady Lion Hoops Splits 1-1 in USCAA Weekend

Hillsboro, Ohio - Through a United States Collegiate Athletic Association weekend trip, the Penn State Greater Allegheny women's basketball team went on to split the weekend after swiping a 87-82 victory over Southern State Community College on Friday before falling to the University of Cincinnati-Clermont, 85-49, Saturday afternoon. 

Greater Allegheny led Southern State at halftime, 47-36. The Lions outscored the home team three out of the four quarters, resulting in the GA slide to a 87-82 victory.

Freshman guard Ronnie Upsher (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) shot 11 from the floor while noting 70% (7-of-10) from the foul line, going up for a team-high 29 points. Junior guard Mandi Johnston (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) noted four three-pointers while shooting 8.7% (6-for-7) from the foul loine for 28 points. Junior guard Tra-Esha Carswell (Homestead, Pa./Steel Valley) added 12 points while senior guard Jess Manfredi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) supplied ten points.

Saturday brought Cincinnati-Clermont.

Carswell, Johnston and Upsher all put up ten points a piece, totaling 11-of-14 from the foul line. Sophomore forward Andrea Burroughs (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) put up seven while Manfredi added six.

Greater Allegheny (2-1) looks onward to hosting Point Park, Thursday night, for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
