Summerdale, Pa. - In a United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) road game, the Penn State Greater Allegheny women's basketball team ovefcame Central Penn, Thursday night, by a tally of 65-48.

Greater Allegheny jumped out to a 6-1 lead with contributions from freshman forward Justice Mitchell (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) and freshman guard Jayla Ellis (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills). Mitchell and Ellis came back for a jumper each as sophomore guard Mandi Johnston (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) slashed a pair from the foul line before a three-pointer, 15-6 GA. Freshman guard Ronnie Upsher (Pittsburgh, Pa./McKeesport) added two points as Johnston made a layup, 19-8 GA after the first quarter.

Ellis made a layup before Mitchell zipped up with six points. Johnston made a layup and a pair of free-throws as sophomore forward Andrea Burroughs (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) made good on a layup, Greater Allegheny in front heading into half time, 32-18.

Upsher put up five as Burroughs added four to continue the Lion stride. Johnston made good from the foul line four times before finishing with a layup. Burroughs completed a layup as Upsher and Johnston finished out the third quarter from the foul line, GA 52-37.

Upsher and Mitchell hit jumpers before Burroughs bucketed points in the paint. Johnston hammered down a trey to stretch the GA lead to twenty over Central Penn. Upsher netted the final four points of the contest from the floor, Greater Allegheny swiping the road win 65-48.

Burroughs produced a double-double in the victory with 17 rebounds, ten points, three steals, two blocks and an assist. Johnston completed 100% (10-of-10) from the foul line for 22 points, eight assists, three boards, and a steal. Upsher put up 14 points, five boards, two steals, two assists and a block while Mitchell added 13 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks.

As a team, Greater Allegheny was out-rebounded by Central Penn 53-42 as the ladies completed 59.1% (13-of-22) from the foul line with 38.5% (25-of-65) from the floor. The Lions put up 32 points in the paint, 22 points off turnovers and six points off second-chance. Turnovers were ultimately Central Penn's demise, as the ladies coughed up the ball 28 times, 19 for GA.

Greater Allegheny (6-13, 3-9 PSUAC) looks onward to their next USCAA road game over SUNY Delhi. The ladies travel up north on Sunday for a 12 p.m. tip-off.
