Monaca, Pa. - In the final Penn State University Athletic Conference contest of the season, the Penn State Greater Allegheny women's basketball team fell to Penn State Beaver, Saturday afternoon, by a margin of 101-61.

Beaver was quick to score as they jumped out to a 6-0 lead before freshman forward Justice Mitchell (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) pocketed a jumper and one. Junior guard Mandi Johnston (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) made a layup before Mitchell denoted four more points. Johnston slashed two from the foul line as freshman guard Ronnie Upsher (Pittsburgh, Pa./McKeesport) and freshman guard Jayla Ellis (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) polished off the first quarter, Beaver ahead 22-15.

Ellis and Upsher added six points a piece as sophomore forward Andrea Burroughs (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) laid on four points in the paint. The two teams entered halftime with Beaver on top, 47-32.

Ellis and Burroughs added points in the paint as Johnston and Mitchell slashed points from the foul line. Johnston put up four points as Upsher drained two free-throws, 65-45. Mitchell added a duo of layups before Johnston finished off the third quarter, 73-50 home team.

Ellis and Upsher dropped jumpers as Beaver continued their swell. Mitchell added two from the foul line as Johnston put up three points. Upsher was the last to score in regulation as Beaver took the win, 101-61.

Ellis added 13 points with eight rebounds, five steals, four assists and a block while Mitchell contributed 15 points, six boards and one assist with 83.3% (5-of-6) of her shots falling from the foul line. Upsher put up 14 points, four rebounds, two steals, one assist and a block as Johnston zipped up 13 points, five boards and two assists.

As a team, Greater Allegheny was out-rebounded by a staggering 48-28 as the ladies shot 60% (12-of-20) from the foul line and 35.3% (24-of-68) from the floor. The Lions added 24 points in the paint, 14 points off turnovers and 13 points on second-chance.

Greater Allegheny finishes their 2016-17 season with an overall record of 6-16 and 3-11 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference. 

Currently, Mandi Johnston leads the PSUAC in points per game with 18 and free-throws made with 124-of-159. The guard is sitting in third for total points with 397 and minutes per game with 34.4. She is also fourth for free-throw percentage with 78.0%.
