McKeesport, Pa. – The Penn State Greater Allegheny Women’s Basketball Team (3-18, 3-10) look to end their 2017/2018 season on a high note when they battle PSU-Fayette (3-17, 2-11) on Monday at 6 p.m. After picking up a big win on Saturday afternoon vs. PSU-Worthington Scranton, the ladies are looking to end the season with a winning streak.

It was a big day from Freshman Brandy Taylor (Pittsburgh, Pa./Imani Christian Academy) that led PSUGA to their largest margin of victory of the season, 68-50, on Saturday. Taylor set a career high scoring 22 points in the game while going 6-14 (42.8%) from three-point range. Taylor has come into her own during the final week of the season scoring in double digits in three out of the four games improving her numbers every time out.

After keeping things close early on, PSUGA was able to go ahead on a 7-0 run late in the second quarter and would put the game out of reach scoring a season high 25 points, 13 from Taylor, in the third quarter. The win moved PSUGA to a perfect 3-0 when they are leading at halftime with all three of their wins this season coming in that scenario.

PSUGA is looking to gain some momentum for next season with their final game in the 2017/2018 season and give their ladies a chance to grow and mature. They have the chance to end the year on a winning streak as they take on a team that they have already beat once this year in Penn State Fayette.

Fayette has been in a slump over the last month and a half having lost their last 13 games, including their matchup with PSUGA earlier this season. Their last time out, they fell to PSU-DuBois 81-61. Hayley Moreland led her team with 17 points and was one of three roaring lions to score in double digits on the night.

Despite getting the win earlier this season, PSUGA has seen its fair share of struggles against PSU-Fayette in the past. Since the 2011/2012 season, PSUGA has a 4-10 record against PSU-Fayette. PSUGA used a consistent offensive attack in their last win over PSU-Fayette and will look for that same consistency once again on Monday.

Tip-off for Monday night’s game is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be the first half of a Men’s and Women’s Basketball Double Header.
