McKeesport, Pa. – Jayla Ellis (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) and Alex Hall (Washington, D.C./Bell HS) have been the leaders of this year’s Penn State Greater Allegheny Women’s Basketball Team (1-17, 1-9). They will look to continue their strong seasons when PSUGA welcomes in Penn State DuBois (14-7, 6-5) on Tuesday night for a PSUAC matchup.

PSUGA is coming off of an 88-41 loss to PSU-Beaver on Monday where they saw their offense improve from the game before. All six active members of the team contributed and PSUGA got back to their goal of shooting 30% or better going 17-55 (30.9%) from the floor and 3-9 (33.3%) from three-point range.

Ellis led the charge with 10 points and 11 rebounds on the day falling just short of a double-double. Ellis has had a strong season leading the team with 12.2 PPG in her first full season with the team. Ellis is also second on the team in rebounds per game with 6.4 sitting behind Andrea Burroughs (New Rochelle, Ny./New Rochelle) who has 9.9 and is currently ranked third in the PSUAC.

Hall finished the game with nine points and four rebounds on the day including a six point first half. In the beginning of the season, Hall was focused more on the defensive side of the ball collecting a lot of rebounds. However, she now is used as an offensive weapon under the net and has averaged 10.9 PPG for PSUGA in her first season.

PSU-DuBois is a team trying to make that final push for a playoff spot as the season comes to a close. They are coming off of a curcial win over PSU-Fayette 81-52. They were led by both Melody Young and Morgan Silvis who each had 12 points in the game. DuBois ended up having five players finish in double digits and now sit in sixth in the PSUAC with a record of 14-7 overall and 6-5 in conference play.

The series has been close between these two teams over the years with DuBois having the slight advantage with a record of 8-6 against PSUGA since the 2011/2012 season. DuBois defeated PSUGA earlier this season 74-46 in a game where Brandy Taylor (Pittsburgh, Pa./Imani Christian Academy) scored a season high 15 points and Ellis scored 18.

Tip-off for Tuesday night’s game is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be the first half of a Men’s and Women’s Basketball doubleheader.
