Women Face Non-Conference Test vs. Villa Maria

McKeesport, PA. - The #20 Penn State Greater Allegheny Women's Basketball team (4-6, 3-0) has been on a role lately winning each of their last three conference games. They will try and take their success to non-conference play when they take on Villa Maria (8-1, 0-0) on Friday at 6 p.m.

PSUGA fought hard and continued their success picking up a 79-55 win over PSU-Mont Alto on Wednesday to move to 3-0 in conference play. After scoring the first six points of the game Mont Alto battled back to make it 14-13 by the end of the quarter.

PSUGA would open things up with a 27 point second quarter that put them up 41-19 at halftime. PSUGA would hold that lead for the rest of the game before picking up the victory.

Tearia Hartley (East Stroudsburg, PA./East Stroudsburg North HS) led the way with 14 points and was one of four different PSUGA players to finish in double digits. Brandy Taylor (Pittsburgh, PA./Imani Christian Academy) returned to form after injury with 13 points in the win.

PSUGA cracked the United State Collegiate Athletic Association top 20 list for the first time in program history thanks to their recent success. After facing some tough competition early on PSUGA has found their groove in conference play.

They will face one more tough competition on Friday in Villa Maria. The Vikings enter Friday's game sitting at 8-1 and have won each of their last seven games. Last time out, they defeated Tenessee Community College 103-70. Bianca Brown led the way with 21 points off the bench in the win.

Friday will be the first time Villa Maria has ever faced PSUGA allowing them to see some new competition as they continue to improve for the playoff stretch.

Tip-off for Friday's game is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be the first half of a men's and women's basketball doubleheader.
