McKeesport, PA. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny Women's Basketball Team (1-5, 0-0) struggled to find their offensive footing on Wednesday dropping their match with Clarion 77-23. PSUGA fell behind right from the start and could never quite find their way back in the game.

The Golden Eagles brought the fire power early on with a 28-point first quarter that jumped them out to a 28-3 lead after the first 10 minutes were up. Tearia Hartley (East Stroudsburg, PA./East Stroudsburg North HS) scored two points and De'Neisha Williams (Pittsburgh, PA./Northgate HS) scored one point accounting for the lone offense in the first quarter.

Defense marked the second quarter as PSUGA slowed down the potent Clarion offense holding them to a season low seven points in the quarter. However, PSUGA managed just three second quarter points as well, and the teams headed to the locker room with Clarion holding a 35-6 advantage.

Hartley led the way with four first half points while Lexus Santiago (Pittsburgh, PA./Miami Christian Academy) and Williams had two and one point respectively to account for the first half scoring. With the game already pretty lopsided, PSUGA would look to focus on creating better offensive opportunities in the second half.

They got better in each quarter during that second half scoring eight and nine points respectively, but the Golden Eagles kept the offense going putting up 42 points ovet the final 20 minutes to capture the 77-23 victory.

Hartley led the scoring finishing with seven points on the day while Jayla Ellis (Pittsburgh, PA./Woodland Hills HS) finished behind her with six. This was the first game all season that not one PSUGA player finished in double digits, however, seven of the 10 girls who saw action contributed on the night.

With the loss, PSUGA has dropped five srraight games putting their record at 1-5. They have been facing some tough non-conference opponents, but that will help them as they prepare for the 17-game Penn State University Athletic Conference schedule that awaits them starting next month.

The PSUGA women will have one more non-confernece test before the start of conference play when they take on Point Park on Wednesday November 28th at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and a live stream will be available at bit.ly/PSUGAYT.
