Clybourn's Big Day Leads PSUGA to Second Straight Victory.

Schuykill, PA. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny Women's Basketball team (3-6, 2-0) made it two wins in a row on Saturday defeating PSU-Schuylkill 51-44. Another career day for Tina Clybourn (Pittsburgh, PA./Brashear HS) led the way and the defense was able to hold on for the win.

After PSU-Schuylkill scored the first five points of the contest, PSUGA took the lead going on a 9-0 run that spanned 4:44 seconds and gave them a 9-4 lead with 3:58 left in the first quarter. Another 9-1 run extended the PSUGA lead and had them out in front 18-10 as the quarter ran out.

The battle continued throughout the second quarter as defense held strong limiting both offenses to under 15 points and PSUGA would head into halftime with a 27-22 lead. It was the second straight game that Chrissy French and her team had a halftime lead after their conference opening win on Friday.

Clybourn was just starting her big day scoring a little under half of her teams total first half offense with 12 points. She was on fire on this day and PSUGA was effectively getting her the ball in big situations throughout the game.

PSUGA would come out of the locker room on fire scoring the first seven points of the half. However, PSU-Schuylkill would get back into it going on an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 34-30 with 3:16 to go in the third quarter. Schuylkill cut the lead to one late in the third quarter, but a three-pointer by Clybourn sent the game into the final quarter of play with PSUGA clinging to a 39-37 lead.

PSUGA sealed the deal scoring 10 of the first 11 fourth quarter points, including two three-pointers from Clybourn, and held Schuylkill to seven fourth quarter points on their way to the 51-44 victory.

Clybourn had a career day scoring 28 of her team's 51 points in the victory and was the only PSUGA player to finish in double-digits in the win. She would also the the PSUGA Women's Basketball program record with 6 three-pointers in the game and fell one shy of the record for field goals made with 11 on the day.

De'Neisha Williams (Pittsburgh, PA./Northgate HS) made her second start of the season and led the team with 6 rebounds on the day while Jayla Ellis (Pittsburgh, PA./Woodland Hills HS) contributed seven assists on the day.

PSUGA now moves to 2-0 in Penn State University Athletic Conference play and has turned things around since dropping six straight non-conference games. PSUGA now finds themselves in second place in the PSUAC West Division and have set themselves in good position early on.

PSUGA will return home this Wednesday when they continue PSUAC play against PSU-Mont Alto at 6 p.m.
