McKeesport, PA. – As the summer begins to wind down, the Penn State Greater Allegheny Athletics Department is getting ready for another exciting season of action during the 2018-2019 school year. Excitement continues to build as the PSUGA Women’s Basketball team announced their 2018-2019 schedule on Friday featuring nine home conference games as well as three exciting non-conference games.
The season kicks off on October 30th when the team will travel to face Grove City before they play their home opener on November 2nd against Butler County Community College. The first month of the season concludes with home games against United States Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Central Penn and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Rival Point Park on November 13th and November 20th.
Their Penn State University Athletic Conference schedule opens on the road when they battle Penn State Hazleton on November 30th. Their first home conference game will be on December 5th when they battle Penn State Mont Alto before finishing the first half on December 15th with another home contest against Penn State DuBois.
The second half of the season features seven of 13 games at home including having PSUGA play four of their last five games inside the Wunderly Gymnasium. During that stretch they will take on PSUAC rivals Penn State Lehigh Valley, Brandywine, Beaver, and New Kensington. They will then finish the season on the road against Penn State Fayette on February 15th 2019.
With the roster nearly doubling in size this season, third-year head coach Chrissy French is very excited about the talent that her team brings to the table this season. With all six players returning from last year’s squad, the team can build off of their 4-1 finish to the 2017-2018 campaign.
