Women's Basketball Takes 2 Road Games

Women's basketball went into this weekend's games in search of their first conference victory and came away with two wins on their trip to Wilkes - Barre and Scranton.

GA stands at 4-4 overall and 2-1 in PSUAC play.

Wilkes - Barre Recap

Friday night saw Isabella Vazquez drop 30 points on the opponents, going 10-15 from the floor and 4-6 from 3 point range. Vazquez also pulled down 5 rebounds on the night. 

GA saw Tomisha Pierce chip in 11 and Kennedy Henderson 9 on the night. Henderson also added 7 steals and 7 rebounds.

Greater Allegheny led 35-19 at the half and cranked things into high gear in the second half scoring another 41 points. 

Judea Alexander paced WB with 18 points.

Final score GA 76 - Wilkes - Barre 37. 

Scranton Recap

The second leg of the road trip saw a back and forth game with Scranton.

The home team took a lead late in the 3rd quarter only to see GA pull ahead early in the 4th and never look back.

Lauren Harris led GA with 16 points off the bench going 4-7 from 3 point land. Harris also added 6 assists on the afternoon in her strongest performance of the season.

GA led 35-30 at the half.

They stretched their lead to 14 early in the 3rd quarter only to see a trio of Scranton lead a comeback. Scranton finished with 3 players in double figures. The end of the 3rd quarter saw Scranton hold a narrow 56-55 lead.

The 4th quarter would see GA storm ahead.

Greater Allegheny would do their opponents one better and see 4 players finish in double figures including Isabella Vazquez, Kennedy Henderson, and Tomisha PierceHenderson was strong again defensively with 8 reounds and 6 steals.

Final score GA 69 - Scranton 62.

Greater Allegheny enjoys a few days off from games for the Thanksgiving break and resumes play on Friday and Saturday at the Virginia State Classic against Virginia State and Shaw University.

PSUAC play resumes on November 30 at Fayette.
