Short Numbers Contribute to Women's Soccer Oust

McKeesport, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny women's soccer team hosted Westmoreland County Community College on Wednesday afternoon for their second match-up of the season.

GA started the game with eleven players but dwindled down below the playing number due to injuries. WCCC went through the entire game with ten players.

Freshman Rachel Ramsey (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny) and the GA defense managed to catch their opponents offsides ten times. Defensive contributions came from freshmanKristina Dague (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills), freshman Taylor Bayes (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City), junior Cecile King (Alexandria, Va./T.C. Williams), freshman Lauren Antosik(Elizabeth, Pa./Oakland Catholic), freshman Sam Bryan (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./G.A.R.) and Maroua Jaouad (Morrocco).

Freshman goalkeeper Nana Kennedy-Kwofie (Kenya) blocked 25 shots on goal through the duration of the game, 18 of them coming in the second half. WCCC managed to take 32 shots the whole 90 minutes, notching seven. 

Both Bayes and Dague boosted three shots to goal, both being saved. Ramsey tallied a shot on goal in the first half.

Greater Allegheny will host their last game of their first season back in collegiate play on Wednesday October 23. A huge match-up between conference foe Penn State Beaver and GA will take place at 4 p.m at Francis McClure.
