GA Women's Soccer Earned Their First Shut-Out over Beaver, 3-0

McKeesport, Pa. - Behind freshman goalkeeper Rachael Maiden (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Thomas Jefferson), the Penn State Greater Allegheny women's soccer team (2-0) earned their first shut-out, 3-0, over Penn State University Athletic Conference foe, Penn State Beaver.

Within the first five minutes of action, GA was able to shoot twice before achieving their first goal just seven minutes in the game. Sophomore midfielder Melissa Loftus (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) received a beautiful pass from freshman midfielder Albree Weisen (Pittsburgh, Pa./Carrick), putting it in the back of the net, 1-0.

Between the first goal and the second, Greater Allegheny managed to hammer 13 shots on goal, as they held Beaver to just three. Approaching the 40th minute of play, freshman midfielder Kaylin Bob (Georgia/Forest Park) received a pass from Weisen, netting her first career goal and moving up on their opponent 2-0.

GA fired off two more shots before halftime, before GA came out ready for more. Nine shots were bolted to Penn State Beaver's keeper, before sophomore midfielder Kristina Dague (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) received a pass from Weisen, blasting it into the lower left of the goal, 3-0. 

Four more shots were contibuted by the GA offense before th 90 minutes expired, putting Greater Allegheny ahead with their first shut-out since reinstatement, 3-0.

As a total, GA peppered Beaver with 33 shots, 16 of them being on target. Bob finished the game with eight shots alongside her one goal. Both Weisen and sophomore midfielder Rachel Ramsey (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny) contributed to seven shots a piece for the Greater Allegheny offense, as Weisen assisted all three goals on the day. Loftus managed to rip six shots alongside her goal.

Maiden (1-0) holds up the shut-out as she stopped all five shots faced. 

Greater Allegheny takes a little time off before their next match-up. La Roche comes to Francis McClure Middle School, September 15th, for a 3:30 p.m. kick-off.
