North Huntingdon, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny women's soccer team took on their last Penn State University Athletic Conference match-up for the season, as Greater Allegheny upended Penn State Beaver, 6-2, Wednesday afternoon.

Thirty-three minutes ticked by before Greater Allegheny put their work on the board. Sophomore midfielder Melissa Loftus (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) received a ball from freshman forward Antoinette Gordy-Smith (Philadelphia, Pa./Mastbaum AVTS), hammering the mesh and making the first tally on the board, 1-0. 

Just a little over a minute later, a corner kick by freshman midfielder Albree Weisen (Pittsburgh, Pa./Carrick) gained a touch by Loftus before sophomore midfielder Rachel Ramsey (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny) added another, 2-0. 

Four minutes from the previous goal, freshman midfielder Kaylin Bob (Georgia/Forest Park) cleaned up another corner kick from Weisen, as Loftus got another touch before Bob marked the third goal of the game.

Beaver got on the board after halftime as Sydnee Abernathy grabbed a unassisted goal in the 59th minute. Freshman goalkeeper Jen Keefer (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) attained the start, as she saw 62 minutes in net. Keefer saw over 20 shots through the time on guard, facing five on goal, allowing just one. 

Sophomore Kristina Dague (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) recorded four shots on goal before the defender made her way to goalkeeper to wrap up the game. 

Weisen collected a ball from Loftus in the 65th minute, advancing the Greater Allegheny lead to 4-1. Beaver's Jessica Spina took a ball by herself down field to chip it up and over to cut the deficit in half, 4-2, just three minutes after Weisen's tally.

A minute later, Ramsey acknowledged a pass from Weisen, netting the fifth goal for Greater Allegheny with just twenty minutes left to battle. 

Loftus was able to grab the final goal for Greater Allegheny with just three minutes left to play, as she took it unassisted past Beaver's goaltender. Loftus' goal capped a 6-2 swipe from the conference nemesis.

Dague, who achieved her first win in goal, as she saw four shots, saving three. Loftus wrapped up the game with 13 shots through regulation, five being on goal. The sophomore leading scorer added two goals and three assists for a game-ending seven point showout. Weisen thrashed the goal ten times, as six were on goal. She tallied one goal and three assists, finishing the game with five points. 

The Greater Allegheny offense peppered the Beaver goalie with 37 shots through regulation, 20 of them being on target. Greater Allegheny mustered up nine corner kick attempts to assist the GA stride.

Greater Allegheny (3-3, 2-0 PSUAC) takes a few days rest and looks forward to the Point Park reserves coming to Francis McClure Middle School in White Oak, Thursday September, 9th. Kick-off is set for 3 p.m.
