Loftus Nets Two in the Greater Allegheny Women's Soccer Fall to WCCC

Youngwood, Pa. - Through 90 minutes of action, the Penn State Greater Allegheny women's soccer team fell to Westmoreland County Community College by a score of 6-3.

WCCC got on the board just before the 15th minute into the game before they notched another before the 34th. 

Penn State Greater Allegheny sophomore midfielder Melissa Loftus (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) received a ball from freshman midfielder Albree Weisen (Pittsburgh, Pa./Carrick) to get Greater Allegheny on the board in the 36th minute.

Westmoreland County Community College put two more in before halftime, increasing their score over Greater Allegheny, 4-1.

WCCC added another to open the first half before Loftus managed to hammer one into the mesh from Weisen to lift their score to 5-2. Westmoreland County advanced their score to six in the 70th minute. Freshman midfielder Kaylin Bob (Georgia/Forest Park) received a ball from freshman forward Antoinette Gordy-Smith (Philadelphia, Pa./Mastbaum AVTS) to increase the Greater Allegheny tally to three to finish the game at 6-3 in Westmoreland County's favor.

Loftus finished the game with the two goals for a total of four points. The Greater Allegheny offense generated 15 shots compared to the WCCC 31.

Freshman goalkeeper Rachel Maiden (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) played 38 minutes in net before sophomore Kristina Dague (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) stepped in to finish the last 51. The duo saw 18 shots on goal, stopping twelve.

Greater Allegheny (3-4, 2-0 PSUAC) is set to travel to La Roche, Wednesday afternoon, for a 4 p.m. kick-off.
