Greater Allegheny Women's Soccer Drops First Game of the Season

Pittsburgh, Pa. - On one of the warmest days of September, the Penn State Greater Allegheny women's soccer team dropped their first regular season contest of the 2015-16 season to Division III Chatham University, Saturday afternoon.

Veteran sophomore goalies Rachael Maiden (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) and Jen Keefer (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) both spent 45 minutes each in net, getting peppered with shots the entire way. Maiden faced 11 shots on goal through the first half as Keefer saw nine to ride out the second half. With a total of nine saves, the goalies worked hard in the blazing sun.

Sophomore midfielder Albree Weisen notched the lone shot of the contest in the first half.

Despite holding Chatham to just two goals in the last ten minutes of the game, Greater Allegheny finished the afternoon at a deficit of 11-0.

Greater Allegheny (0-1) look forward to their first home game of the season as Westmoreland Country Community College comes to Francis McClure Intermediate School, Thursday September 10th, for a double-header with the men. The women are set for kick-off at 3 p.m.
