Greater Allegheny Women's Soccer Drops First Conference Game of the Season

New Kensington, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny women's soccer team went on to fall to Penn State Schuylkill, 6-2, for their first Penn State University Athletic Conference loss of the season. 

Schuylkill managed to post five goals within the first half, putting Greater Allegheny in a whole to climb out of going into the second. Within the first few minutes of the contest, junior midfielder Melissa Loftus (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) knocked one past the goaltender's hands, 5-1 Schuylkill. 18 minutes later, sophomore midfielder Albree Weisen (Pittsburgh, Pa./Carrick) shot and made it past the goalies hands to push Greater Allegheny to a 5-2 disadvantage.

Schuylkill's Andrea Slotterback notched her third goal of the contest with just nine minutes left to play in the contest, finishing the scoring tally at a 6-2 Schuylkill victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jen Keefer (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) faced ten shots on goal, stopping four. Freshman midfielder Emily Rojas (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) had six shots, four of them being on goal while sophomore midfielder Kaylin Bob (Riverdale, Ga./Forest Park) had five shots. The Greater Allegheny offense outshot Schuylkill, 15-11.

Greater Allegheny (1-2, 0-1 PSUAC) looks onward to Wednesday, as they travel with the men's team to Westmoreland County Community College for a double-header. The women are scheduled first for a 3 p.m. kick-off.
