Six GA Women's Soccer Players Net 11 Goals to Blank WCCC

Youngwood, Pa. - Through 90 minutes of action, six different Penn State Greater Allegheny women's soccer players achieved goals to put them up and over Westmoreland County Community College, Wednesday afternoon, 11-0.

Just over a minute into the game, sophomore midfielder Kaylin Bob (Riverdale, Ga./Forest Park) marked the first goal of the game on a breakaway. Six minutes later, junior midfielder Melissa Loftus (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) took another hard shot right of the goalies hands, 2-0 GA.

In the 19th minute, sophomore midfielder Albree Weisen (Pittsburgh, Pa./Carrick) crossed the ball to Bob, who knocked it in the back of the net, GA 3-0.

A big cross from freshman midfielder Emily Rojas (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) to sophomore midfielder Danielle Hozinec (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) who in turn touched it to Loftus was enough for the fourth goal of the game within just 25 minutes of play.

Bob dished the ball to Loftus who posted her third goal of the game, her second hat-trick of the 2015-16 season. To end the half, junior midfielder Kristina Dague (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) sent Rojas a long ball, as she put it in the mesh and boosted Greater Allegheny's tally to 6-0 before the break.

Less than three minutes into the second half, sophomore forward Jen Keefer (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) and sophomore defender Kelly Moore (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) assisted the ball to Rojas, who netted her second and the team's seventh goal of the game.

Two and a half minutes later, Weisen bombed a beautiful ball 30 yards out to put it up and over the goalies hands and just under the crossbar to give Greater Allegheny a 8-0 lead over WCCC. Still feeling the energy, Weisen served the ball to Dague to netted another past the goalies hands to continue the swell over the home team.

At the 60th minute, Moore received a ball from Rojas and lofted it in the air to the right of the net, GA holding strong at 10-0. Time wasted away and both teams held strong until the 82nd minute. Freshman midfielder Puspa Nepal (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) and Dague moved the ball to Bob who was just right of the net to put down her third goal of the game, and her first career hat-trick. With Bob's ringer, Greater Allegheny capped off their scoring drive at a 11-0 stand still.

Sophomore goalkeeper Rachael Maiden (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) held down the fort in the backfield as she earned her first shutout of the season. Maiden saw four shots, stopping each one.

The GA offense peppered Westmoreland County Community College with 33 shots to their four. 20 of the Greater Allegheny shots were on target. Bob shot 11 times, five being on target while Loftus posted eight shots, five being on target as well.

Greater Allegheny (2-2, 0-1 PSUAC) look to pick back up with Penn State University Athletic Conference play as they travel to Penn State Brandywine for a double-header with the men's team. The women are set to kick-off first at 2 p.m.
