Rojas Nets Lone Goal in 3-1 GA Women's Soccer Brandywine Stumble

Media, Pa. - Despite being down 3-0 at half, the Penn State Greater Allegheny women's soccer team managed to note a point in the second half to put Brandywine up and over Greater Allegheny, 3-1.

The first goal came 16 minutes into the game, as Brandywine's Arianna Segich knocked one past the defenders to put the game at a 1-0 standstill. In the 30th minute, Brandywine's Mary Mitcheli slipped another one into the back of the net, 2-0 Brandywine. With just over eleven minutes left in the first half, Brandywine's Olivia Encarnacion dropped another goal to give the home team a 3-0 lead.

To begin the second half, sophomore goalkeeper Jen Keefer (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) exited the first half with ten shots faced, stopping seven. Sophomore goalkeeper Rachael Maiden (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) entered the game for the final half in net.

In the 73rd minute, freshman midfielder Emily Rojas (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) ripped one past Brandywine's keeper Melanie Kempf to cut the defecit to 3-1. Time was not on Greater Allegheny's side, as the clock expired in a 3-1 Brandywine advantage.

Facing six shots on goal, Maiden allowed zero past her through the final half. Rojas finished the game with four shots, three being on goal. Sophomore midfielder Albree Weisen (Pittsburgh, Pa./Carrick) put three shots on target.

Greater Allegheny (2-3, 0-2 PSUAC) takes a break before they travel to Penn State Beaver, Thursday, for another Penn State University Athletic Conference game. Kick-off is set for 4 p.m.
