GA Women's Soccer Squander Under Penn State Beaver, 9-1

Monaca, Pa. - Through the 90 minute contest, the Greater Allegheny women's soccer team cracked under pressure and buried themselves in a 9-1 hole over Penn State Beaver, Thursday afternoon.

Beaver's Jessica Spina marked the first goal of the game in the 14th minute before they marked another just ten minutes later off the foot of Cortney Harden. The home team inflated their score to 3-0 in the 31st minute, after a hammer from Morgan Stillwagon. With the first half winding down, Beaver's Ella Bose marked the fourth goal of the game.

13 minutes into the second half, Beaver's Edisa Bukuru drew the fifth goal of the game, 5-0. Just a minute later, freshman midfielder Emily Rojas (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) took a ball and placed it right of the goalie, posting Greater Allegheny's lone goal of the game.

Greater Allegheny held the score for twelve minutes before Spina and Stillwagon managed to get on the board with one more goal apiece, Beaver now up 7-1. Just two minutes later, Taja Finley of Penn State Beaver slid one into the mesh before Sadie Stillwagon capped off the scoring tally at a 9-1 Beaver advantage.

The Greater Allegheny offense posted 14 shots, eight of them being on target. Beaver edged 23 shots through the match, 14 on goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jen Keefer (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) faced seven shots on net through the first half, putting a halt to three. Sophomore goalkeeper Rachael Maiden (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) guarded the net the next 35 minutes, where she saw five shots on net. Junior defender Jess Manfredi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) stepped up to tend goal for the final ten minutes of the game, where she faced two shots on goal.

Greater Allegheny (2-5, 0-3 PSUAC) look onward to Wednesday, October 7th for their next Penn State University Athletic Conference match. Penn State Mont Alto comes to Francis McClure in White Oak for a 4 p.m. kick-off.
