Youngwood, Pa. - Sophomore midfielder Pawpar Heat (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) noted a hat-trick while senior midfielder Melissa Loftus (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) posted three assists in the 7-0 Penn State Greater Allegheny women's soccer win over Westmoreland County Community College, Thursday afternoon. 

Heat was the first to strike in the contest, after she received a pass from Loftus, 1-0 GA. Just under two minutes later, Loftus and Heat worked the ball up to the middle of the field where it found the foot of freshman defender Erin Findlay (Greensburg, Pa./Central Catholic), knocking it into the back of the mesh, 2-0. In the final seconds of the first half, sophomore forward Gaby Selmi (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Owen-Withee) passed the ball to Loftus, 3-0 Greater Allegheny to head into halftime.

Six minutes into the second half, Heat took an unassisted ball from the left side of the net, 4-0 Lions. Three minutes later, freshman forward Megan Dague (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) found Heat for her final goal of the game, 5-0 with 35 minutes to play.

Dague took the ball to goal herself just ten minutes later, increasing the Lion tally to six. With just fifteen minutes left to play, senior defender Jess Manfredi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) and Loftus moved the ball over to sophomore midfielder Mikayla Diak (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) as she marked the final goal of the game, 7-0 visiting team.

As a team, Greater Allegheny outshot WCCC 36-4.

Freshman goaltender Alexa Byers (Spring Creek, Pa./Corry Area High) marked her first collegiate shutout with the win, stopping all four shots faced.

Greater Allegheny (2-3) looks forward to a Penn State University Athletic Conference weekend as Mont Alto comes to Francis McClure Saturday and Worthington-Scranton on Sunday. Both games are set for kick-off at 1 p.m.
