Lion Women's Soccer Slighted in Overtime Against Mont Alto, 3-2

McKeesport, Pa. - Through a hard-fought regulation period, the Penn State Greater Allegheny women's soccer team went on to fall in a 3-2 Penn State University Athletic Conference overtime battle with Penn State Mont Alto, Saturday afternoon.

Both teams worked hard through the majority of the first half before Mont Alto managed to note a goal on the ground in the 35th minute, 1-0 GA.

12 minutes into the second half, senior midfielder Melissa Loftus (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) snuck a goal in past the keeps legs, 1-1.

With ten minutes left in the game, Mont Alto's Zeiders netted her second of the game, 2-1 MA.  Three minutes later, sophomore midfielder Mikayla Diak (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) knocked the tying goal past the keeper off a cornerkick, two all.

Regulation exprired, sending the two teams into overtime.

Zeiders managed her third goal of the game to finish off Greater Allegheny in OT, 3-2.

Freshman goalkeeper Alexa Byers (Spring Creek, Pa./Corry Area High) faced 12 shots on goal, stopping nine.

Loftus posted seven shots as freshman defender Erin Findlay (Greensburg, Pa./Central Catholic) ripped five.

As a team, Greater Allegheny outshot Mont Alto, 21-17.

Greater Allegheny (2-4, 0-4 PSUAC) look onward to Sunday, as Penn State Worthington-Scranton comes to Francis McClure for a 1 p.m. kick-off.
