Dunmore, Pa. - With four goals off the foot of senior midfielder Melissa Loftus (Oxford, Pa./Oxford), the Penn State Greater Allegheny women's soccer team went on to take a 5-3 triumph over Penn State Worthington-Scranton, Saturday afternoon.

Worthington-Scranton was the first to score just five minutes into the game before Greater Allegheny buckled down. Sophomore midfielder Pawpar Heat (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) moved the ball to the foot of Loftus, tying the game at one apiece.

Seven minutes later, freshman midfielder Erin Findlay (Greensburg, Pa./Central Catholic) ripped a long shot, advancing GA one over WS.

Scranton just would not let up and tied the game at two with five minutes later. Two more goals off the duo of Findlay and Loftus resulted in the two teams heading into halftime, 4-2 Greater Allegheny.

Eight minutes into the new half, Findlay found sophomore midfielder Mikayla Diak (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) and took GA to a 5-2 lead over the home team.

The Lions held the ladies to that score for 25 minutes before letting a goal up with less than two minutes on the clock.

As a team, Greater Allegheny was outshot 15-14.

Freshman goaltender Alexa Byers (Spring Creek, Pa./Corry Area) faced 12 shots on net, stopping nine. 

Loftus ripped six shots on target while four other Lions tallied two each.

Greater Allegheny (4-4, 2-4 PSUAC) looks forward to another Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) battle against Penn State Schuylkill. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
