Byers Stuns with 16 Saves: GA Women’s Soccer Falls to Beaver, 2-0

McKeesport, Pa. – Despite an all-out effort from freshman goalkeeper Alexa Byers (Spring Creek, Pa./Corry Area), the Penn State Greater Allegheny women's soccer team fell on their senior day to Penn State University Athletic Conference foe, Penn State Beaver, 2-0.

Beaver was the first to answer in the first half, as Edisa Bukuru knocked a goal in the right upper ninety, 1-0.

With just 12 minutes left in the first half, Beaver's Jessica Spina got into a 1v1 with the keep, taking top left corner, 2-0.

Byers faced a total of 18 shots on goal, putting a halt to a staggering 16. Six came in the first half for the freshman as she stopped another ten in the scoreless second half.

Senior midfielder Melissa Loftus (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) ripped five shots, four being on target, while six other Greater Allegheny Lions posted one a piece.

As a team, Greater Allegheny was outshot 22-11. 

Greater Allegheny (4-7, 2-7 PSUAC) looks onward to their final regular season contest, as the Lions travel to Penn State Beaver for a Penn State University Athletic Conference battle. Game-time is set for Monday at 4 p.m.
