Byers, Loftus, Heat and Manfredi Named to the PSUAC All-Conference List

University Park, Pa. - Through their hard-work and dedication in the 2016-17 season, four Penn State Greater Allegheny women's soccer players have been named to the Penn State University Athletic Conference All-Conference list.

Freshman goalkeeper Alexa Byers (Spring Creek, Pa./Corry Area) has been named to the First-Team All-Conference list, after her determination guarding the net for the Lions in her first season with the blue-and-white. Byers currently sits in third place in the PSUAC for total saves with 122. In 12 games totaling 1075 minutes, Alexa put up a save percentage of 73.9%, halting an the impressive 122 stops, letting up 43. With one total shut-out, Byers earned four wins in the net.

After four strong seasons with the Lions, senior midfielder Melissa Loftus (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) finishes her career with the blue-and-white with a Second-Team All-Conference award, after posting a team-high 13 goals and six assists through 12 games this season. With 32 points, Melissa ripped 59 shots, 41 being on target, for a shot on goal percentage of 69.5%.

Loftus has directed the team as captain in all four of her seasons, serving as the backbone of the Greater Allegheny offense. Through her career, she has posted 30 goals and 14 assists through 40 contests played with a total of 152 shots.

In her first season with the GA Lions, sophomore midfielder Pawpar Heat (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) has earned herself the Second-Team All-Conference award, for her work in the center of the field. Heat notched four goals and three assists over 17 shots for GA in her lone season with the team before moving on to University Park.

Capping off the list is senior defender Jess Manfredi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic), who also served as team captain for her work commanding the defense for not only this season, but last year as well. This season, Manfredi worked to get three goals and two assists from the backfield through 12 games played. 

Manfredi has dedicated her all to the backfield in 23 total games for GA, posting 25 shots and nine total points.
