Women's Volleyball Comes Up Short At Penn State Beaver

Monaca, Pa- The Penn State Greater Allegheny Women's Volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (16-25, 22-25, 9-25) defeat at the hands of Penn State Beaver.

Greater Allegheny had a strong first set, keeping the score close throughout. Penn State Beaver seemed to answer every single time GA got close, and pulled away late, for a 25-16 victory.

In the second set, Greater Allegheny continued its strong play, leading for most of the set. Seemingly in control up 22-20 late, GA would surrender the next five points, losing a heart-breaker, 25-22.

The third and eventual final set turned out to be a rough one for the Greater Allegheny women. Never looking comfortable, and unable to string attacks together, GA mustered just nine points. Beaver would clinch the match with an easy, 25-9 win.

The Greater Allegheny women were led by strong performances from Freshmen Corinne Wilson (Bethel Park) and Samantha Clark (Steel Valley). Wilson led GA with 3 Kills and 11 Total Attacks, with Clark leading the way with 11 Digs. Freshman Alyssa Finocchi (Baldwin) also turned in a productive effort, adding 3 Kills, 11 Total Attacks, and 8 Digs.

With the loss, the Greater Allegheny Women's Volleyball team drops to 1-7 overall, and 0-2 in PSUAC play. Greater Allegheny will return to the court next Tuesday September, 20th, as it hosts Westmoreland CC for a 6:00 PM start.
