DuBois, Pa- Led by Freshman Alyssa Finocchi's (Baldwin) 15 Kills, the Penn State Greater Allegheny Women's Volleyball team powered its way to a 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-22) win over Penn State Dubois in the season finale.

Greater Allegheny started its attack early in the first set, sprinting out to an 8-2 lead. Not wilting under the pressure, DuBois countered with an 8-0 run to take a 10-8 advantage. After tying the set at 13-13 with a Service Ace, Finocchi landed back-to-back Aces to put GA up for good, at 16-13. Three points would be as close at DuBois could get, and Greater Allegheny won the first set 25-20.

Set 2 started out heavily contested, featuring 4 ties and 5 lead-changes. Three straight Service Aces from Freshman Megan Carroll (Ramona Convent) stretched the GA lead to 16-12. DuBois would fight to keep the score close, and trailed just 20-18 coming down the stretch. Greater Allegheny would crush all hopes of a DuBois comeback however, as they earned the next five points, winning the set 25-18.

Penn State DuBois refused to go down easy, and they were out to extend the match to a fourth set. Despite an early 4-1 advantage, Greater Allegheny would surrender the lead for quite awhile. DuBois would earn its largest lead of the match, at 18-11. But Greater Allegheny would chip away at that margin, eventually tying the score at 22 on a clutch Kill from Freshman Corinne Wilson (Bethel Park). The next three points would go to Greater Allegheny, as Megan Carroll drilled a set-clinching Kill, winning the match.

Alyssa Finocchi followed up her 17 Kill performance from just a day ago, with another stellar output. She knocked in 15 Kills, to go along with 4 Service Aces and 5 Digs. Corinne Wilson added 8 Kills of her own, with Megan Carroll drilling 7. Freshmen Samantha Clark (Steel Valley) and Audra Besnak (Steel Valley) each lent a helping hand, contributing 16 and 9 Assists, respectively.

With the win, the Penn State Greater Allegheny Women's Volleyball team finishes up its 2011 season on a two game winning streak, with an overall record of 6-18. The ladies also finished up at 5-11 in the PSUAC.
