Greater Allegheny Volleyball Falls Short to Penn State Beaver, 3-1

McKeesport, Pa.- The Penn State Greater Allegheny women's volleyball team hosted Penn State University Athletic Conference rival, Penn State Beaver, Wednesday night, where Greater Allegheny came up short in a 3-1 decision.

Penn State Beaver came out on top through the first and second sets, both by scores of 25-20. The third set saw Greater Allegheny rise to the top, also by a score of 25-20. Beaver closed the match and capped a 3-1 win by a final tally of 25-20.

Senior middle hitter Alyssa Finocchi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) recorded 14 kills, eleven digs and four block totals to compete through the four sets. Sophomore setter Adrielle Brisbon (Fort Washington, Md./Friendly) assisted 27 kills through the action, gaining three service aces and seven digs.

Sophomore defensive specialist Brianna Audette (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) and freshman right side Laura Vazquez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Cupey Maria Montessori) got down for 12 digs apiece to lift the efforts of Greater Allegheny. Senior middle hitter Christina Floyd (Philadelphia, Pa./Sts. Neumann-Goretti) added five kills, four total blocks, four digs and one service ace. Freshman middle hitter Cheyenne Boulware (Centreville, Va./Centreville) put up six kills, one service ace and one block assist to boost Greater Allegheny's stride.

Freshman right side Emily Taylor (Aliquippa, Pa./Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter) got in the mix with freshman defensive specialist Tori Johnston (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) as they contribute a total of six kills, six service aces and sixteen digs.

Penn State Greater Allegheny (17-9, 10-6 PSUAC) is set to go on the road, Friday, against Westmoreland County Community College in a non-conference battle. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
