Greater Allegheny Women's Volleyball Takes Two over a Weekend Roadtrip

York, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny women's volleyball team went on the road, Sunday, as the women took two 3-1 victories over Penn State York and Central Penn.

Through the four sets over Penn State York, sophomore setter Adrielle Brisbon (Fort Washington, Md./Friendly) assisted 21 kills to lift the efforts over Greater Allegheny. Senior middle hitter Alyssa Finocchi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) achieved 14 kills and six service aces alongside her six block solos through the four sets.

Freshman right side Laura Vazquez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Cupey Maria Montessori) placed five kills as freshman defensive specialist Tori Johnston (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) recorded one kill, three service aces and ten digs.

Greater Allegheny came out on top over Penn State York, 3-1, by sets of 25-20, 21-25 and 25-19.

Game two saw competition from Central Penn, where Greater Allegheny proved superior by taking three sets to one by scores of 21-25, 25-11, 25-14 adn 25-17.

Finocchi earned 15 kills and eleven digs through the four sets. Brisbon dished out 27 assists to complete tallies for GA as she added four kills herself and got down for ten digs. Senior middle hitter Christina Floyd (Philadelphia, Pa./Sts. Neumann-Goretti) contributed nine kills, three service aces and two digs through the course of the match.

Vazquez dropped five kills, 19 digs and four service aces as freshman right side Emily Taylor (Aliquippa, Pa. / Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter) posted two kills, two service aces and two digs. Sophomore defensive specialist Brianna Audette (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) got down for eleven digs.

Greater Allegheny (20-9, 10-6 PSUAC) travel to Penn State Beaver, Wednesday evening, for the first round of the Penn State University Athletic Conference Championships. The Elite Eight Playoff Tournament is set for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
