Greater Allegheny Volleyball Splits on the Road

Monaca, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny women's volleyball team traveled to Penn State Beaver, Saturday, where the ladies split with Penn State Schyulkill and Penn State Brandywine in two Penn State University Athletic Conference match-ups.

In game one over Schyulkill, senior middle hitter Alyssa Finocchi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) recorded eleven kills, three service aces, two digs and a block solo to contribute to the GA overtake. Sophomore setter Adrielle Brisbon (Fort Washington, Md./Friendly) linked up for 12 assists with five service aces and one kill.

Freshman middle hitter Cheyenne Boulware (Centreville, Va./Centreville) came in big for her team with 15 service aces through the three sets. Senior middle hitter Christina Floyd (Philadelphia, Pa./Sts. Neumann-Goretti) surplused Greater Allegheny with three kills and four total blocks. Freshman right side Emily Taylor (Aliquippa, Pa./Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter) added four kills, three assists, a block solo and a service ace to the 25-9, 25-7 and 25-4 downing of Schyulkill.

Greater Allegheny saw Penn State Brandywine in the second part of the day. Brandywine took three sets to none by tallies of 25-21, 25-14 and 25-18.

Finocchi put up eleven kills with five digs and and five total blocks. Brisbon put up 25 assists and seven digs through the three sets. Freshman right side Laura Vazquez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Cupey Maria Montessori) added three kills and four digs through the matches. Sophomore defensive specialist Brianna Audette (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) got down for five digs and a service ace to complete the 1-1 day.

The Lady Lions (10-5, 3-2 PSUAC) look onward to tomorrow, where they go back to Greater Allegheny and host Penn State York and Penn State Mont Alto through another big day of PSUAC play. York is on for game one with a tip-off time slated for 12 p.m. Mont Alto will be thereafter, around 2 p.m.
