Tori Johnston and Courtney Shadd Honored for Their Efforts in GA Women's Volleyball

McKeesport, Pa. - Through a 4-1 Penn State University Athletic Conference week, both freshman setter Courtney Shadd (Hanover Park, Ill./Bartlett) and sophomore outside hitter Tori Johnston (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) were honored for their efforts toward the Penn State Greater Allegheny women's volleyball team. 

Through five PSUAC contests during the week, Shadd appeared in 19 sets though five matches last week, the freshman averaged over eight assists per set. The setter tallied an astounding 54 service aces with a total of 158 assists, 18 digs, seven kills and four total blocks. With her efforts, Shadd boosted her team to a 4-1 Penn State University Athletic Conference week.

With her hardwork, Courtney has earned herself not only the Penn State University Athletic Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for Women's Volleyball as a setter, but also the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Volleyball Setter of the Week accolade.

Sophomore returning outside hitter Tori Johnston had a killer weekend with the GA Lions, as she assisted her team boosting their overall Penn State University Athletic Conference record to 6-4. The sophomore racked up 83 kills, 52 digs, and 31 aces for the Lions to elevate their weekend record to 3-1.

With her outstanding effort, Johnston has earned herself the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Volleyball Player of the Week award.
