Alix Ellis Honored as PSUAC Volleyball Player of the Week

McKeesport, PA. – The Penn State University Athletic Conference released their weekly awards on Tuesday and Penn State Greater Allegheny Volleyball player Alix Ellis (Derry, PA./Derry Area HS) has been named the week 2 PSUAC Volleyball Player of the Week. Ellis continued her hot start to the 2018 season last weekend and led PSUGA to a 1-1 record including their first PSUAC win of the season over PSU-Mont Alto.

Ellis combined to collect 24 kills over the weekend on 46 total attack opportunities against Point Park and PSU-Mont Alto. Her biggest performance came in the team’s PSUAC Opener when she took down a career high 15 kills on 25 total attack attempts leading her team to a 3-0 sweep of their conference foes.

Ellis has been a big contributor for PSUGA through the first five matches totaling 44 kills on 71 total attack opportunities. Her 44 kills currently ranks her second in all of the PSUAC behind PSU-Fayette’s Siteri Tale. She is also third in the conference in both hitting percentage (.188) and kills per set (2.93).

Ellis came to PSUGA as a three-time All-Section player at Derry Area High School and a Four-Time All-WPIAL Player. She also named to the 2017 PVCA All-State Team for her efforts during her senior season with the Trojans. She has brought that same fire and tenacity to PSUGA as she looks to continue to lead this year’s team as they compete for a PSUAC Championship.

Ellis and the rest of the PSUGA Volleyball team will be back in action on Friday September 14th when they take on Kent State Tuscarawas at 7 p.m. inside the Wunderly Gymnasium.
