Alix Ellis Named USCAA Honorable Mention

Virginia Beach, VA. – The United States Collegiate Athletic Association released their annual USCAA All-Americans list over the weekend as part of USCAA Fall Championship Weekend. Penn State Greater Allegheny Volleyball player Alix Ellis (Derry, PA./Derry Area HS) was recognized as a USCAA All-American Honorable Mention for her outstanding performance in her freshman season for PSUGA.

Ellis came into this season with big goals after being a four-year star of the Derry Area Trojans volleyball team. She did not disappoint being the leader on the offensive side of the ball and one of the key components of the PSUGA Volleyball team’s growth this season. Ellis was a forced to be reckoned with on the court and only looks to continue to improve this offseason.

Ellis led the team in kills (182), total attacks (498), and hitting percentage (.203) throughout the season serving as one of the primary hitters on offense. She finished fifth in all of the Penn State University Athletic Conference with 3.08 kills/set and was named a PSUAC West First-Team All-Conference player for her efforts.

While performing well on the offensive side of the ball, Ellis was also a leader on the defensive side of the ball with 39 total attacks and 28 solo blocks this season. She also ranked among the conference leaders in blocks finishing fifth with 0.66 blocks per set.

Ellis is the cornerstone of a group of eight returners next season who look to keep PSUGA Volleyball on the rise. They improved their record by two wins finishing 10-14 in 2018-2019 and missing the PSUAC Playoffs by just two games. With Ellis at the forefront, PSUGA Volleyball will work to get another year better this offseason and try to compete in next year’s tournament.

Head Coach Alyssa Finocchi was excited about the work her girls put in this season and believes that next season will be an even better year for her team.
