PSUGA Drops Heartbreaker to PSU-Mont Alto

McKeesport, PA. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny Volleyball Team (9-10, 2-4) dropped a key Penn State University Athletic Conference matchup with PSU-Mont Alto on Saturday 3-0. The offense could not get going and they just didn't have enough in the tank to make a comeback.

Mont Alto took control of the game early on getting a crucial first set win 25-14. PSUGA has been fighting back all season long and tried to do it once again on Saturday. However, a couple of key starters were out do to injury and the loss was just too much to come back from.

PSUGA had their best set of the day in the second set competing all the way to the end. They got the Mont Alto lead to within three but Mont Alto once again finished out the set with a 25-22 win.

Mont Alto would once again cruise to victory in the final set winning 25-14. With the loss, PSUGA now falls to 2-4 in conference play and has to battle to make the PSUAC Playoffs. They officially split the season series with Mont Alto after winning the first game of the season 3-0.

Alix Ellis (Derry, PA./Derry Area HS) led the team on offense with 11 kills on 30 total attack. Seiblesierra Ili (Barstow, CA./Barstow HS) was the defensive leader with both 12 digs and 18 assists on the day.

With the loss, PSUGA will have some work to do to make the PSUAC Playoffs. Three of their final four conference games of the season come against the top three teams of the conference. They would have to win at least two out of those three games to get into the running for the playoffs.

The first of those three big matchups comes on Tuesday when the PSUGA Volleyball team takes on PSU-Beaver at 7 p.m.
