Volleyball Picks Up Win in Regular Season Finale

New Kensington, PA. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny Volleyball team (18-9, 8-4) wrapped up their regular season on Tuesday with a 3-0 win over Penn State New Kensington. PSUGA got better and better in each set and looks to ride that momentum into the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) playoffs.

Penn State New Kensington fought hard throughout the first set and forced PSUGA to battle.   PSUGA did just enough to hold off the surge and picked up a 25-23 win to go ahead 1-0 in the match.  The PSUGA defense continued to get better throughout the night not allowing New Kensington to score more than 13 points in either of the remaining two sets.

PSUGA finished the match with wins of 25-13 and 25-7 to pick up their 11th sweep of the season.  The team finished the regular season 8-4 in PSUAC play. They enter the PSUAC playoff tournament having won each of their last two games.

Angelina Alpirez (San Jacinto, CA./San Jacinto HS) led the way with 22 digs on the night helping to lead the defensive effort.  Sueriah Timsah (Mesquite, TX./West Mesquite HS) led the way offensively with 14 kills while finishing second on the team with 18 digs.
