Greater Allegheny Women's Volleyball won their opening match of the season against Butler County Community College on Wednesday night 3-2 in a thrilling 5 set battle at the Wunderley Gym.
A 2-0 set lead for GA quickly turned into a tight 2-2 game after BC3 stormed back in sets 3 and 4 to equalize. Things went to a fifth and final set with Greater Allegheny pulling it out 18-16 in the final frame.
Sueriah Timsah led GA with 18 kills, Alix Ellis added 16. Andrea Ghiloni chipped in with 24 assists to help build the attack. Defensively GA was led by sophomore Hannah Kessler with 23 digs and Alexa Martell with 5 solo blocks.
Greater Allegheny returns to action this Friday and Saturday at the USCAA Tip Off Tournament at Penn State Beaver facing familiar foes UC Clermont and Miami Middletown in pool play.
