Cross Country Takes Third at First-Ever PSUGA Invitational

McKeesport, Pa- In the first-ever Penn State Greater Allegheny Invitational, the hometown favorite didn't disappoint, placing third in both the men's and women's team standings.  The University of Pitt-Greensburg would take first in both races.

  Sophomore Maria Marroquin (Benjamin Banneker, D.C.) was the lone competitor in the 5k women's race for GA, and placed ninth out of the 13 runners with a time of 29:13.

  Sophomore Brandon Jacobs (South Allegheny, PA) paced the Greater Allegheny men, finishing third in the 8k race with a time of 31:11.  Freshmen Nathan Ferraro (West Mifflin, PA) and Rob Meier (Penn-Trafford, PA) finished back-to-back at fifth and sixth, with times of 31:21 and 31:23, respectively.  Sophomore Jared Reesman (Indian Valley, PA) came in 13th, with junior Chris Hurley (McKeesport, PA) rounding out the GA runners at 15th.  A total of 18 runners competed in the race.

  Following the strong performance, the Greater Allegheny cross country team now sets its sights on an October 6 meet at Pitt-Greensburg.  Race time is scheduled for 10:00 AM.
