Maria Marroquin Achieves Personal Best, Men's Cross Country Takes Third at Pitt-Greensburg Invitational

Greensburg, Pa- In possibly their strongest performance of the season, the Greater Allegheny men's cross country team finished third out of eight schools, while sophomore Maria Marroquin (Benjamin Banneker, D.C.) finished 18th, finishing with a personal best time of 27:56.  The GA men just missed finishing first in the invitational, losing by a mere five points.

  The men's team ran a 5k race and were led by sophomore Brandon Jacobs' (South Allegheny, PA) fourth place finish, with a time of 19:19.  Freshman Rob Meier (Penn-Trafford, PA) came in just behind Brandon, at fifth, with a time of 19:30.  Freshman Nathan Ferraro (West Mifflin, PA) rounded out the GA top-10 finishers, with an eighth place finish and a time of 19:44. 

  Next on the schedule for Greater Allegheny, an October 13 meet against Penn State Dubois.  Start time is set for 1 PM.
