Cross Country Takes Second at PSUAC Championship

Media, Pa- The Greater Allegheny cross country team continued its stellar season by finishing 2nd in the 2012 PSUAC Championships, hosted by Penn State Brandywine.

  Sophomore Ryan Bartok (Mt. Pleasant, PA) paced the GA runners in the 8k race with a 7th place finish and a time of 31:23.  Freshman Rob Meier (Penn-Trafford, PA) came in right behind Bartok with a time of 31:26, with sophomore Brandon Jacobs (South Allegheny, PA) finishing 9th at 31:44.  Freshman Nate Ferraro would finish in the top-15 as well, placing 13th, at 32:09.  Sophomore Jared Reesman (Indian Valley, PA) and junior Chris Hurley (McKeesport, PA) rounded out the GA participants, finishing 22nd (34:58) and 33rd (39:00), respectively. 

  On the women's side, sophomore Maria Marroquin (Benjamin Banneker, D.C.), valiantly battling through an injury,  finished 15th in the 5k race, with a time of 28:15.

   Five Greater Allegheny men have also qualified for the USCAA National Championship, which takes place in Lake Placid, NY. on November 9:  Bartok, Meier, Jacobs, Ferraro, and Reesman will be participating.
