A Big Week for Greater Allegheny Women as PSUAC and USCAA Highlights
McKeesport, Pa. - Sophomore Rachel Ramsey and freshmen Albree Weisen and Rachael Maiden are honored by the Penn State University Athletic Conference, and Ramsey by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, for their efforts for Greater Allegheny in the week of September 16, 2014.
McKeesport, Pa. - Sophomore Rachel Ramsey and freshmen Albree Weisen and Rachael Maiden are honored by the Penn State University Athletic Conference, and Ramsey by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, for their efforts for Greater Allegheny in the week of September 16, 2014.
Ramsey (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny) earned PSUAC Student-Athlete of the Week alongside USCAA Runner of the Week for her efforts in the 3rd Annual Penn State Greater Allegheny Cross Country Invitational this past Saturday. Ramsey led her team to a fifth place finish in the 3rd annual Greater Allegheny Cross Country Invitational 5k by running a new season and course best time of 21:43. Her time shaved 16 seconds off the Greater Allegheny course record, a record which she also owned. This is the third time she has been honored this season for her efforts on the GA cross country team.

For the first time this season, the Penn State University Athletic Conference has recognized women's soccer and their hard-working student-athletes.
Freshman goalkeeper Rachael Maiden (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) has earned the accolade of Goalkeeper of the Week for Women's Soccer for the week of September 16th. In Greater Allegheny's 3-0 shut-out over PSUAC foe, Penn State Beaver, Maiden made five crucial saves that preserved her first shutout of the season.

Freshman midfielder Albree Weisen (Pittsburgh, Pa./Carrick) was awarded with the Women's Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts through the Beaver shut-out. Weisen assisted all three goals in the 3-0 finish, alongside registering seven shots herself.
