As January quickly comes to a close, the Penn State Greater Allegheny student-athletes have been hard at work through the winter on the court and the mat. Strong competition has come through the doors of Greater Allegheny, mentally and physically challenging the student-athletes to participate in their respective sports, overcoming their foes and being rewarded not only on the playing field, but also in the classroom.

As we honor our male and female January Student-Athletes of the Month, the Athletic Department admires their hard-work, dedication and commitment to both their respective teams alongside their fields of study. Each student-athlete has excelled both on and off the court, earning recognition in the classroom with at least a 3.0 GPA or higher the previous semester. Those selected have exemplified the values and expectations of a Pennsylvania State University student-athlete as well as reaching full potential in academics. The student-athlete has been recognized and acknowledged by their coaches and the athletic administration for their efforts through Penn State University Athletic Conference and the United States Collegiate Athletic Association action.

The Penn State Greater Allegheny Athletic Department is pleased to announce that freshman forward Tony Patterson-Brown of the men’s basketball team has been honored as the Penn State Greater Allegheny Male Student-Athlete of the Month.

Throughout his January performance, Patterson-Brown added a total of 81 points and 22 rebounds over the course of eight games. Tony averaged ten points per game while appearing in 25 minutes per game. “Tony worked very hard both in the classroom and on the court, and has really picked up his play this semester”, stated men’s head basketball coach Tyler Care. “He is a big part of our team and what we are trying to do.”
