McKeesport, Pa. - With the help of the Allegheny Health Network and Nick Fischer, RD LDN, the Penn State Greater Allegheny Athletic Department hosted the Come Ready Sports Nutrition course open to all student-athletes to better educate themselves with the importance of athletics and nutrition.

Student-athletes of all sports came out, Friday afternoon, to listen to Nick Fischer, RD, LDN tell them how important healthy nutrition is through the on and off season regimens. More than 60 student-athletes spent their early afternoon coming out to listen to what the experienced dietician had to say.

Fischer has been a sports dietician for the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Marathon alongside being a nutrition coach for both the USA Cycling Camps and the sports dietician for the West Virginia University Cycling Team. A specialist in sports nutrition cooking and menus, Fischer is experienced in clinical sports nutrition consulting, menu planning and evaluation for young competitive athletes.

The lecture focused on having enough energy to succeed on and off the field.
