Crusaders Go 1-2 Over Tournament Weekend

Monaca, PA – Christendom College's Volleyball team went 1-2 in their weekend tournament in Pennsylvania. The Crusaders fell to Kent Saint Tuscarawas 3-1, swept Penn State Beaver 3-0 and lost their final match 3-0 against Penn State Greater Allegheny.

In their first match against the Golden Eagles, the Crusaders fought hard but fell in the first set 22-25. Christendom came back and won the second set 25-20. Both teams having a set under their belt, the game was intense. Despite the efforts of the Crusaders, the Golden Eagles came away with the third set 25-18. The Golden Eagles took the final set to win the match 3-1. Christendom's Nora Ross (Freshman/Tulsa, OK) led the team in points and Fiona Briggs (Senior/Front Royal, VA), had a total of 8 digs.

The Crusaders took on the Lions (Beaver) in their second match of the tournament. Christendom was victorious in all three sets of this match winning 26-24, 25-17 and 25-15. This brought the Crusaders to a victory, winning the match 3-0. Ross led the team with 13 kills, followed by Claire Mense (Senior/Lakeland, FL) with 6 and Catherine Brezinsky (Sophomore/Montrose, CO) with 3. Ross and Mense both notched a total of 14 points.

Despite a challenge from the Crusaders, they fell to the Lions (Greater Allegheny) 3-0 in their final match. The first set ended with the Lions on top 25-13. The Crusaders were not able to break through and lost the second set 25-9 and the third set 25-14. Ross and Mense again led the Crusaders with 6 kills each. Briggs led the team with a total of 6 digs, followed by Mense and Eibhilin Mccloskey (Sophomore/Manassas, VA) with 3 each.

Next Up: Christendom College's Volleyball team will play on Thursday, September 8th at Notre Dame of Maryland at 7:30pm.
