First Win Streak for Beaver Defeating Greater Allegheny 80-74
Mckeesport, PA - The Men's team traveled to take on Penn State Greater Allegheny. Earlier this season, Penn State Greater Allegheny defeated Beaver 80-58. Today, Beaver was able to get their revenge.
Greater Allegheny scored the first bucket of the game, but Beaver responded quickly. Both teams went back and forth scoring, until Beaver turned the game around. With just 4 minutes remaining in the half, Beaver was up by 10 points. By the end of the first half, Beaver was up by 19 having 47 points and holding Greater Allegheny to 26.
Going into the second half, Beaver continued to hang onto their lead, and within 3 minutes they extended their lead to 27 points. Beaver held onto their lead and stayed up by 20 or more points for most of the half. Greater Allegheny was able to close the gap to 13 points with 6 minutes remaining. Greater Allegheny continued to play hard, and closed the gap again to 5 points with just 1 minute remaining. However, Beaver did not give up and closed the game with a 80-74 win.
Senior Devon Johnson (Washington, DC) was a key player in Beaver's win having 22 points, 8 steals, 6 assists, and 6 rebounds. Sophomore Chris Green (Washington, DC) and senior Izaiah Dickerson (Washington, DC) both finished with 17 points. Green was a big player on defense having 8 defensive rebounds and 1 block. Dickerson played big on both ends having 6 defensive rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Freshman Jabari Gayle (Stafford, VA) came of the bench to finish with 11 points and 3 rebounds.
