MBB suffers defeat from G. Allegheny

Lemont Furnace, PA - The Penn State Fayette men's basketball team is still looking for its first Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) win of the year following its 110-78 loss to Penn State Greater Allegheny (GA) Tuesday night.

GA shot 60.9 percent (42-69) for the game and first-year Fayette coach Andy Hedrick was upset with his team's defensive effort. In fact, he was so unhappy that he only spoke positively about the players who finished the contest.

"I am proud of the people at the end of the bench who kept fighting even though we were down big," he said.

Fayette gave up 13 offensive rebounds while securing only 16 defensive rebounds, meaning it only secured 55.2 percent of possible rebounds on GA missed shots.  Offensively, Fayette shot 41.2 percent (28-68) for the game and only 20.8% (5-24) from beyond the arc.  Fayette only had 13 turnovers for the game, but GA turned them into 23 points.  GA turned the ball over 19 times and Fayette scored 27 points off of them.  GA outscored Fayette's bench, 41-30.

GA had five players hit double figures while Dasilas Jones (Fairmont, WV/Fairmont HS) led Fayette with a game-high 27 points and Tave Mozie (McClellandtown, PA/Albert Gallatin HS) hit double figures with 11 points.  Gavin Postlethwait (New Martinsville, WV/Magnolia HS) grabbed a team-high six rebounds, which also tied for game honors.

Fayette will look to get back on track in conference play this weekend as it hosts a pair of PSUAC games.  Friday night, it hosts Penn State Wilkes-Barre at 8 p.m. followed by a 3 p.m. tip Saturday against Penn State Scranton.
