Mont Alto wins key conference matchup over GA 62-49

Penn State Mont Alto 62, Penn State Greater Allegheny 49

Penn State Mont Alto overcame a 17-6 first half deficit on Tuesday evening to hang on to defeat Penn State Greater Allegheny and remain in the top spot in the PSUAC west division. Caleb Eckert and Anthony Davis led the Mont Alto scoring effort with 16 points each. Nathan Osei scored 12 points in 38 minutes of action.

 

Mont Alto found itself trailing 15-4 at the midway point of the first half on Tuesday. Caleb Eckert stepped up in a big way during the second part of the first half as he scored 14 points, including four three pointers during the next five minutes of game action. Following a Greater Allegheny timeout, Nathan Osei tied the score at 25-25 with a three-point basket with 3:43 remaining in the half. Mont Alto trailed 29-27 at the half.

 

The Mont Alto defense stepped up following halftime, limiting Penn State Greater Allegheny to just 20 points in the second half on 5 of 34 shooting. After going scoreless in the first half, Anthony Davis scored all 16 of his points in the second half on 6 of 10 shooting. Bryson Fleming scored six points and grabbed five rebounds in the second half for Mont Alto. 

 

No Greater Allegheny player scored more than five points in the second half as Bryce Phillips (5) and Damon Gamble (5) were the top offensive players for the home team.

Bryce Phillips: 12 points, 8 rebounds
