Devastating Loss Against PSUAC Champs Penn State Greater Allegheny
Greater Allegheny, PA- Today the Men's basketball team hit the road and traveled to Penn State Greater Allegheny to play another PSUAC conference match up. Coming off a big win Beaver hoped to continue that energy and they battled hard but ended up coming short. Ending the game with a final score of 86-78.
To start the game Penn State Greater Allegheny took possession from the tipoff. Greater Allegheny went on an 8-0 scoring streak before Beaver found their momentum. Starting the scoring for Beaver was Fourth year, Chris Green (Washington, DC) with a nice lay up. Following that play was two made free throws by Second year, Trevor Franklin (Stafford, VA). Fourth year, Chris Green (Washington, DC) continued scoring the next play with a 2 on 1 and finished the play with another made bucket. Continuing that was a huge three pointer made by First year, Alex Green (Chicago, IL). Beaver found their groove and had back to back three pointers. The first half was continuous back and forth play at a high pace. Adding to the three point rally was Second year, Josh McCloud (Houston, TX). At the 10 minute mark the score was all tied up 18-18. Greater Allegheny gained some momentum back and went on another scoring streak adding 7 more. But Beaver battled back and ended the first half with a score of 41-36 Greater Allegheny.
Coming out of halftime Greater Allegheny scored first and applied the pressure. Starting the scoring for Beaver was Fourth year, Ben Pleasant (Austin, TX) with a nice layup. Second year, Trevor Franklin (Stafford VA) added another nice shot from inside. Greater Allegheny had some push in this half taking a 13 point lead over Beaver with 10 minutes remaining in the game. Second year, Xavier Ryan (Philadelphia PA), made a clutch layup to bring Beaver back within 6 points. Beaver kept pushing and had moments of back and forth play but ended the game with a final score of 86-78.
Leading the team in points and player of the game was Fourth year, Chris Green (Washington, PA) having 23 points, 2 steals, 2 assists, and 7 rebounds. Also contributing was First year, Alex Green (Chicago, IL) adding on 19 points, 1 steal, 2 assists, and 3 rebounds. Fourth year, Ben Pleasant (Austin, TX), having 13 points, 7 steals, 1 rebound, and was 7-8 FTM-A.
